Centipedes

What’s that scurrying in the corner of the bathroom or up your wall? Often times centipedes are to blame when a bug catches your eye in your home. Although centipedes can bite, they rarely do. Centipedes do not survive Pennsylvania winters, so they will try to find refuge in your warm home to live and reproduce.

Millipedes

If it’s late fall or there’s just been a rainstorm, you may tend to find millipedes wandering into your home. If they’re hiding, they may be waiting for the perfect time to lay up to 300 eggs at a time, which can cause a problem for homeowners.

Pavement Ants

One of the most common pests in local homes, the pavement ant can be found under stones, in cracks, along the curb edges, under concrete slabs and in cracks of masonry and woodwork. As it cools down, the ants will make their way indoors from their mounded homes outside. The swarmer ants have wings and sometimes are mistaken for termites.

Stink Bugs

The Brown Marmorated Stink Bug has become a huge nuisance in Pennsylvania both inside and outside. They are attracted to the warmth of the outside of homes in the fall and will make their way indoors as it gets cooler. To identify them, look for their well-known shield shape and the unique scent they emit, especially if they are squashed.
